Wytchwood: How to Light the Braziers

There are four braziers in the first quest in Wytchwood, and these all need different ingredients to light them to open the portal beyond.

Wytchwood is a brand new fairy-tale style gathering and building indie game. This title is filled with spells, potions, and collecting items to help the old witch to pay off her debts to the goat. One of the first big quests is to collect four items for the braziers to light them.

In order for players to get the shining stone for the first pillar, they will need to head to the well. In front of the well is an NPC who has brought along a trowel to go digging for treasure inside the depth of the well, but he seems to have lost his nerve. Have a chat with him and he will offer the witch his trowel. After that, players need to click on the well with some Reedy Twine in their inventory, and the witch will climb down into the darkness. Look for shining stones on the ground or inside of the spots the witch can dig. These will also hide clay and frogs, so players will want to have their Animal Crossing-style bug nets ready to catch the next item.

The second item needed to light a brazier in the relaxing video game Wytchwood is some slime from a frog. But before heading down to the depths of the well to look for a frog, players will need something to catch it with. On the main map, head all the way to the west from the well and look for a small, green-haired boy holding some frogs. He will give the player a net that can catch either the frog that escapes the little boy's pocket or grab on from inside the well. Once the frog is caught, the witch will automatically get the frog's slime.

The most difficult of the items to get is the hair from the dog. The dog is located around the center of the map, and he is guarding the potter's house. In order to get the hair, players will have to subdue the dog with treats first. To get the recipe for the treat, use the witch's vision on the dog. The Wytchwood crafting system is similar to games like Animal Crossing; players just have to gather the ingredients and then open their grimores to make the item.

Now players will be able to make the Soporific Potion from two mushrooms, one Impeye Nut, and one jar of water. Unlike brewing potions in games like Minecraft, players don't need a workbench or any special equipment to prepare potions. The Soporific Potion can then be mixed with the morsel of meat to make a sleepy-time treat. Throw the treat at the dog; she'll fall asleep as soon as she eats it. Then players can take the shears and snip off just enough of her fur to put in the Brazier.

Just about everywhere in the forest are little bluebirds, adding to the relaxing, Animal-Crossing-like atmosphere. They run away as soon as the witch walks by, so players will have to plant a trap for them in order to nab a feather. Place a trap on the ground where a bird was, then step back and wait for the bird to return. The bird will land on the trap and players can then collect their meat and their feathers.

Wytchwood is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
